Location
The Aerides Villas are located in Agios Arsenios, south of Naxos Town. Saint Arsenios or Agersani, as the locals call it, is one of the largest villages of western Naxos, where according to tradition it was named after the chapel of Agios Arsenios that existed in the area before the village was built and the which is still preserved.
On your wanderings in the village with the beautiful traditional houses and the well-groomed courtyards full of flowers, you will come across the large renovated church of Agios Spyridonas, as well as the church of Agios Nikolaos, an 18th century building that served as an observatory during the pirates' . The sights of the wider area, famous for its many country chapels, include two old windmills on the hill of Stroumbula, the tower of Ag. Nicholas with the characteristic pigeons, as well as the monastery of St. John the Baptist who has never been inhabited by monks.
